Upcycling is basically creative reuse. It is the transforming of one product into another.
"Giving it a new life"
A few weeks a go I did a post on the four R's: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Reuse the the best and most efficient way to keep things out of the landfill.
Why not recycle? Usually recycled products cannot be used for the same product, it is basically a slower route to the landfill.
Reuse can create a legacy for your old products.
For example, glass bottles can be turned into cups, candle holders, or vases.
Pachamama Alliance shared that for every ton of discarded textile reused, 20 tons of CO2 is prevented from entering the atmosphere!
